Concrete prep is the work that gets a slab ready for a coating: diamond grinding to open the surface, removing old paint or sealers, and repairing cracks, pits and spalls.

What's under a floor
that lasts
Scroll through a real build, layer by layer. This is why we grind every floor.
Start
Every slab has a story
Concrete has a weak, dusty top layer, and many garages also have sealer, paint or oil. Coatings laid over that do not have anything solid to grab.
Why coatings fail: rolled-on kits over unground concrete often peel and lift within a few seasons.
Step 01
Diamond grind
Industrial grinders with diamond tooling remove the weak top layer and open the pores so the coating bonds into the concrete, not onto it.
Skipping this step is the most common reason floors peel.
Step 02
Repair
Cracks are routed and filled, and pits and spalls are patched so they do not telegraph through the new floor.
Moisture coming up through a slab can also lift a coating. We check before we quote.
Step 03
Primer and base
A primer and tinted base coat soak into the profile and build the foundation of the system.
Step 04
Broadcast
Flake or quartz is broadcast into the wet base until the floor is covered, then scraped and vacuumed.
Step 05
Topcoat
A clear topcoat locks everything in. For sun-exposed floors we recommend a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat.
